Then the Wind Changed
Strathewen, a verdant haven where families established their homes to nurture their children amidst nature, transforms into a scene of chaos one summer morning at 3am. Residents are jolted awake by the sound of trees being whipped by a scorching northerly wind. “It felt like we were in a tinderbox,” they recall. Those fortunate enough manage to escape by car before the inferno engulfs the shadowy landscape and the trucks begin to detonate.
