While making a brief stop in a small Texas town, a traveling race car driver discovers that his stock car, which was hitched to his motor home, has been swiftly and skillfully dismantled. He tracks down the culprits, who are revealed to be six orphaned children. Unable to seek help from the authorities, as the corrupt local sheriff profits from their thefts in return for keeping them out of an orphanage, the driver finds himself charmed by these endearing scoundrels. Unhappy with their deal with the sheriff, the children secretly join him, and he unexpectedly becomes a reluctant father figure. With their passion and remarkable mechanical skills, he starts gaining recognition in the racing world. However, the sheriff is not pleased about losing his illicit earnings…
