Sin Ruta

“Sin Ruta” is a dual-perspective narrative that seeks to spark conversation about illegal immigration between two different worlds and examine social issues in smaller nations. The story follows Teo, a gay musician from southeastern Guatemala, who dreams of reaching America. However, during his journey to Mexico, he is viciously attacked by a group of men who discover his sexual orientation, leaving him hospitalized in a small town. There, he encounters Ray, an American doctor who left his homeland after inadvertently causing a patient’s death. Their meeting profoundly impacts both of their lives, prompting them to reconsider their ideals about the perfect country and the reasons behind their desire to escape. Teo begins to question whether life in the US will truly be better for him, while Ray faces the need to flee once more after nearly causing another patient’s death.
