Yin Yang Yo!
“Yin Yang Yo!” is a Canadian-American animated TV series created by Bob Boyle II and produced by Jetix Animation Concepts. It holds the distinction of being the third original show from Jetix. The series first aired in the United States on October 2, 2006, following a sneak preview on August 26, 2006. In the United Kingdom, it premiered on February 5, 2007, after an initial preview on January 27, 2007, and it made its Canadian debut on Family Channel on March 25, 2006. The show features a team of writers and animators who have worked on popular series like Fairly OddParents, Family Guy, Kim Possible, and Danny Phantom. The head writer, Steve Marmel, an anime enthusiast, drew inspiration from various anime and anime-influenced shows such as Teen Titans and FLCL. The story revolves around two anthropomorphic rabbits, Yin and Yang, and their mentor, a panda named Yo, who is a master of a fictional mystical martial art called Woo Foo. The second season of the series began on December 31, 2007, and concluded on April 18, 2009.
In 2007, the show was nominated for a British Academy Children’s Award in the International category by BAFTA but lost to Stephen Hillenburg’s SpongeBob SquarePants. From its launch on June 1, 2011, until late 2012, Disney XD Canada aired reruns of the series.
