Top Chef Canada
Top Chef Canada is a reality competition series that debuted on Food Network Canada on April 11, 2011. The inaugural season featured 13 episodes and 16 contestants, all competing for a grand prize of $100,000 and a GE Monogram kitchen worth $30,000. During the first season, contestants shopped at Loblaws, while in the second season, they shopped at McEwan. Mirroring the format of the original American series, the chef contestants face off in weekly culinary challenges, judged by a panel of professional chefs and notable figures from the food and wine industry. Each week, one or more contestants are eliminated. The Canadian version retains the same graphics and music as its American counterpart.
The first season of Top Chef Canada became one of Food Network Canada’s highest-rated shows, leading to the network renewing it for a second season, which premiered on March 12, 2012.
