Top Chef Canada
Top Chef Canada is a competitive reality TV series that debuted on Food Network Canada on April 11, 2011. The inaugural season featured 13 episodes, where 16 chefs competed for a top prize of $100,000 and a GE Monogram kitchen set worth $30,000. During the first season, contestants did their shopping at Loblaws, while in the second season, they switched to McEwan. Mirroring the format of the original American show, the Canadian version has chefs facing off in weekly culinary challenges. A panel of esteemed chefs and notable figures from the food and wine sectors evaluates their performances, with one or more participants being eliminated each week. The Canadian series adopts the same visual and musical elements as its American counterpart.
The first season of Top Chef Canada became one of the most popular shows on Food Network Canada, prompting the network to renew it for a second season, which premiered on March 12, 2012.
