Moonlighting
“Moonlighting” is an American TV series that was broadcast on ABC from March 3, 1985, to May 14, 1989, with a total of 66 episodes. Featuring Bruce Willis and Cybill Shepherd as private investigators, the series blended elements of drama, comedy, and romance, and is recognized as one of the pioneering and impactful examples of the comedy-drama, or “dramedy,” genre in television.
The theme song, performed by jazz vocalist Al Jarreau, became popular, and the show is credited with launching Willis’s career while giving Shepherd a significant success after several underwhelming projects. In 1997, the episode “The Dream Sequence Always Rings Twice” was ranked 34th on TV Guide’s list of the 100 Greatest Episodes of All Time. By 2007, the series was named one of Time magazine’s “100 Best TV Shows of All-Time.” Additionally, the dynamic between David and Maddie was highlighted in TV Guide’s compilation of the greatest TV couples ever.
