Men in Trees

Men in Trees

“Men in Trees” is an American romantic comedy-drama TV series that debuted on ABC on September 12, 2006. The show stars Anne Heche as Marin Frist, a relationship coach. Set in the fictional town of Elmo, Alaska, the series follows Marin’s romantic escapades and misadventures. The show bears some resemblance to HBO’s “Sex and the City,” as both feature a female writer focused on romance. Additionally, Marin’s “fish-out-of-water” experience in a small Alaskan town is reminiscent of CBS’s “Northern Exposure,” where New Yorkers find themselves in rural Alaska. The series was filmed in Squamish, British Columbia.

Five episodes from the first season, which had not yet aired on ABC, premiered in New Zealand on the TV2 network in June and July 2007. These episodes were later broadcast on ABC starting October 19, following the first episode of the second season. “Men in Trees” was ultimately canceled on May 4, 2008, with its final episodes airing during the summer of 2008 as a burnoff.
