Living Single

Living Single

“Living Single” is an American sitcom that was broadcast on the Fox network for five seasons, from August 22, 1993, to January 1, 1998. The series revolves around the lives of six friends who navigate their personal and professional journeys while residing in a Brooklyn brownstone.

During its tenure, “Living Single” emerged as one of the most beloved African-American sitcoms of its time, consistently ranking in the top five for African-American viewership throughout all five seasons. The show was produced by Yvette Lee Bowser’s company, Sister Lee, in collaboration with Warner Bros. Television. While NBC’s “Must See TV” dominated Thursday nights in the 1990s, many African American and Latino audiences preferred Fox’s Thursday night lineup, which included Martin, Living Single, and New York Undercover. Notably, these three shows were the highest-rated among black households for the 1996–1997 season.
