Little Einsteins
Little Einsteins is an animated series aimed at preschoolers, broadcast on Disney Junior. The show was brought to television by Douglas Wood, who developed the original idea and characters. It was further developed by a team led by Emmy Award-winning director Olexa Hewryk and Eric Weiner, co-creator of JoJo’s Circus, and produced by Curious Pictures and The Baby Einstein Company. The series made its debut in Japan on TV Tokyo on October 5, 2005, and shortly after in the United States on the Disney Channel on October 9, 2005. In Europe, the second season premiered on the Disney Channel around Christmas, while in Japan, it aired on October 8, 2007, on Playhouse Disney Japan.
The purpose of Little Einsteins is to educate its young audience about art and music by incorporating well-known or culturally important artworks and classical music into each episode’s setting, storyline, and soundtrack. The show also aims to engage viewers by encouraging interaction; at the conclusion of each mission, the character Leo announces “Mission Completion!” followed by the Little Einsteins performing the Curtain Call. After the Curtain Call, Leo says, “See you on the next mission!” and the curtains close. In the second season, a segment called “That’s Silly” is featured.
