Black Books
“Black Books” revolves around the irritable and highly unconventional bookshop owner, Bernard Black. Bernard’s life is a blend of heavy drinking and deliberate hostility, which somehow enhances his existence as well as that of his assistant, Manny. Manny, who is kind-hearted, bearded, and gentle, stands in stark contrast to Bernard and often bears the brunt of Bernard’s relentless torment simply for being himself. Despite this, they find purpose in each other, much like their long-time friend Fran, who relies on them for diversion.
The bookshop, Black Books, is a sanctuary filled with literature, wine, and engaging conversations. The only real threat to their tranquility and well-being is their own boundless foolishness.
