Barracuda

Set in Melbourne in 1996, the narrative unfolds during the dawn of Australia’s swimming renaissance. Sixteen-year-old Danny Kelly earns a scholarship to an elite boys’ school, edging him nearer to his dream of clinching Olympic gold.

At first, Danny finds it challenging to fit into the esteemed social milieu of the private school. Yet, under the mentorship of esteemed coach Frank Torma and through a complex friendship and rivalry with fellow swimmer Martin Taylor, Danny is soon poised to become Australia’s youngest swimming prodigy, earning the moniker ‘Barracuda’ for his relentless drive.
