In Melbourne, 1996, the dawn of Australia’s swimming renaissance is underway, and a scholarship to a prestigious boys’ school propels 16-year-old Danny Kelly closer to his dream of Olympic gold. At first, Danny finds it challenging to fit into the elite social environment of the private school. Yet, with the guidance of esteemed coach Frank Torma and a complex friendship and rivalry with fellow swimmer Martin Taylor, Danny is poised to become Australia’s youngest swimming sensation, earning the nickname ‘Barracuda’.
