Babylon 5 is a massive space station, stretching five miles in length, situated in a neutral zone. Constructed by the Earth Alliance during the 2250s, its primary purpose is to foster peace among diverse alien species by offering a venue for resolving disputes and conducting negotiations through officially designated ambassadors. A council, comprising delegates from the five principal spacefaring civilizations—the Earth Alliance, Minbari Federation, Centauri Republic, Narn Regime, and Vorlon Empire—collaborates with the League of Non-Aligned Worlds to manage interstellar diplomacy. Beyond its role in diplomacy, Babylon 5 functions as a military base for Earth and serves as a hub for travelers, traders, entrepreneurs, criminals, and Rangers.
