Will Freeman leads an enviable life as the quintessential adult who refuses to grow up. Thanks to a successful song he penned, he enjoys a lifestyle filled with leisure, casual relationships, and financial security. He’s single, jobless, and thoroughly enjoying it. However, his idyllic existence is thrown into disarray when Fiona, a single mother in need, and her uniquely endearing 11-year-old son, Marcus, move in next door. Marcus starts showing up at Will’s place unexpectedly, and Will is initially reluctant to become the boy’s new buddy.
