Secret of the Midwife

Marthe is a young woman endowed with a unique ability to heal ailments. However, she exists in an era dominated by superstition and religious fervor. When she fails to cure the wife of the local burgrave, Marthe is forced to escape. Her journey intersects with that of Ritter Christian, who is traveling east with a band of Frankish settlers to the region of Mark Meissen. During the Middle Ages, this journey is incredibly lengthy and challenging. Christian finds himself drawn to Marthe, yet their differing backgrounds make any romantic involvement unattainable, and the settlers are wary of the mysterious girl.
