As the final evening of work looms for the staff at a mental institution, a skeleton crew of security personnel and researchers remains to ensure the patients remain orderly before their transfer to a high-security prison. Dr. Helen Kingford, grappling with feelings of abandonment, is on the verge of resigning from her role as a psychologist. Meanwhile, the head of security, having been forced into retirement, embarks on a reckless plan that plunges the asylum into chaos and destruction. Amidst the turmoil, the dangerous patients break free from their padded cells. Dr. Kingford, disoriented, wakes up to find herself restrained in the hospital morgue. Unsure of whom to trust, she is forced to flee from everyone in a desperate bid for survival.
