Pressure
Set in Harlem, New York during the 1980s, this coming-of-age tale follows five teenagers navigating their formative years. They are part of the emerging “hip hop” generation, which unfortunately coincides with the rise of the “crack cocaine” era. After graduating in 1985, Karon falls into a profound sleep, experiencing dreams within dreams that transport him into a vivid drama. In these dreams, he envisions his potential future in the 1990s as a young drug dealer. His pursuit of quick money proves detrimental to the community, and his closest friends become entangled in the fallout of his illegal activities. Upon waking in 1985, Karon realizes that the seemingly easy path he was offered was not a promising new start, but rather a dead end.
