Pooling to Paradise
Jenny, portrayed by Lynn Chen (known for “Saving Face” and “Go Back To China”), is a mother from Los Angeles who heads to a blogger convention in Las Vegas. She inadvertently selects the “pool” option on her rideshare app, ending up in a vehicle with a group of strangers. Among them are Kara, an activist facing challenges (played by Dreama Walker from “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood” and “Gran Torino”), Sean, a talent agent nursing a broken heart (Jonathan Lipnicki from “The Resident” and “Jerry Maguire”) who is on a mission to find Dawn (Taryn Manning from “Orange is the New Black” and “Hustle and Flow”), and their eclectic driver Marc, who is a hipster, anarchist, and shaman (Jordan Carlos from “First Wives Club” and “Broad City”). As they journey together, their diverse personalities collide, vulnerabilities are exposed, and connections are forged, leading each of them to discover their own version of Paradise. The script by Jentis is infused with humor, emotion, and a touch of psychedelia during a trip to Death Valley, making it a relatable millennial road trip romantic comedy ideal for the summer season.
