Like many boys his age, 9-year-old Eli Braverman is convinced that a sinister presence lurks in his basement. One evening, when his older sister leaves him by himself at home, Eli sets out to determine whether this malevolent force is genuine or merely a figment of his imagination. What he encounters might turn out to be more horrifying than his darkest fears.
