Memorial Day
On Memorial Day in 1993, young Kyle Vogel, aged 13, stumbles upon his grandfather Bud’s World War II footlocker. Despite being advised by everyone to leave it alone, Kyle decides to explore further. Though Bud has always been silent about his wartime experiences, he agrees to a unique arrangement with his grandson: Kyle can choose any three mementos, and Bud will recount the stories behind them. The film “Memorial Day” not only delves into Bud’s intricate past during the war but also glimpses into Kyle’s future in combat. As they exchange stories of their respective battles, they come to understand how that fateful day on the porch profoundly influenced both of their lives.
