At 20 years old, Nathan faces a crisis after losing both his job and his girlfriend, prompting him to question his life’s direction. His challenges are intensified by his upbringing in a foster home and the fact that he has never met his biological mother. Determined to find her and understand her reasons for abandoning him, Nathan embarks on a journey to the city of his birth. Upon arrival, he checks into a hotel where he encounters Mave, the housekeeper, whose insights, along with the assistance of a hotel guest named Shelly, help him locate his mother, Linda. In an attempt to alleviate her guilt, she becomes involved in the life of Tori, a pregnant teenager grappling with the decision of whether to have an abortion.
