This anarchic and absurdist indie film, drenched in blood and brimming with attitude, is the quintessential youth movie from Hong Kong. It follows a young punk in his twenties who sees himself as a ladies’ man, yet the best job he can land is working the night shift at a convenience store. His co-worker is an attractive young woman, which initially hints at a romantic comedy. However, the plot takes a wild turn with a robbery, a gangster, and a shoot-out, culminating in a neighbor brandishing a homemade bomb. This chaotic satire reflects the current state of affairs in Hong Kong, where logic is absent, the ruthless trample over the downtrodden, and the future seems so bleak that burning it all down feels like the only option.
