Aubri Callahan dreams of making it big as a comedian while working as a ghostwriter for the famous stand-up comic Bella Delmonico, who owns the Vista Theater. Performing at the Vista is a crucial milestone for anyone aiming for fame, and although Aubri is naturally gifted, she bides her time, crafting jokes for Bella behind the scenes of the comedy legends who paved the way. When the opportunity to organize The Vista Theater Variety Show falls into her hands, Aubri must orchestrate the entire event and secure a headliner, all within the tight deadline of three weeks before Christmas Eve.
