Frank Banner, once an expert in facilitating the safe defection of Soviet operatives to the West, suffered a personal tragedy when his wife was killed during one of these missions. In the post-Cold War era, Banner is tasked with a new mission: to protect a former K.G.B. agent who is being hunted by both the CIA and the Russian Mafia.
