“Kicking Off” begins with the season’s most crucial match. Devoted supporters Wigsy and Cliff anxiously watch as their football team scores the goal that would prevent their relegation. The thrill of victory fills the air as fans cheer and weep with joy. However, this wave of happiness quickly sours when the referee nullifies the crucial goal. With adrenaline surging and anger boiling, the fans decide to take action, and Cliff makes the grave error of concocting a plan while under the influence. Wigsy, a self-proclaimed fool, executes the plan, leading to a crime in the dead of night that spells disaster for both him and his close friend Cliff. “Kicking Off” is artfully shot with split screens and slow-motion sequences. The characters are endearing ruffians who will have you both laughing and cringing at their lack of judgment. The beautiful game has taken a turn for the worse.
