Karmageddon
“Karmageddon” delves into the evolution of Western spirituality post-1960s, centering on Bhagavan Das, an American whose 1964 spiritual pilgrimage to India significantly influenced American spiritual practices. He played a pivotal role in guiding Ram Dass, the former Harvard psychology professor dismissed alongside Timothy Leary for their LSD research. Bhagavan Das’s journey inspired the seminal spiritual text “Be Here Now,” which was instrumental in introducing Eastern philosophies to the Western world. Since the 1960s, he has been known as a kirtan singer and spiritual teacher, though his life has also included relationships with over 500 women and periods where he abandoned his spiritual path to sell used cars and encyclopedias. The film tracks one of his followers as they attempt to bridge the divide between the spirituality of the 1960s and that of today.
