I’m Charlie Walker
In 1971, post-civil rights San Francisco appeared to be an ideal setting for a Black Korean War veteran and his family to pursue their aspiration of financial freedom and his personal ambition to become his own “boss.” However, Charlie Walker soon discovered his naivety. In a city teeming with pretenders and skeptics, he was determined not to accept “No” as an answer. It wasn’t until a devastating disaster created an unprecedented opportunity for a Black man that his journey truly began. This narrative explores what unfolded when he boldly seized that opportunity.
