Gemma Bovery

In “Gemma Bovery,” directed by Anne Fontaine, a British couple moves to a small French village, where the local baker becomes enamored with the wife, Gemma, due to her uncanny resemblance to the tragic heroine of Gustave Flaubert’s novel “Madame Bovary.” As the baker becomes increasingly obsessed, he begins to draw parallels between Gemma’s life and the fictional story, leading to unexpected and dramatic consequences.
