Flag of My Father
Judith, portrayed by GiGi Erneta (known for her roles in “Friday Night Lights” and “Veronica Mars”), takes great pride in serving her country as an army nurse, a value instilled in her by her Vietnam veteran father, played by William Devane (“Knots Landing,” “24”). After completing her deployment in Iraq, she returns home, grappling with intense post-traumatic stress that manifests as nightmares. Her close bond with her father, rooted in their shared military experiences, becomes a source of envy for her brothers, led by John Schneider (“The Dukes of Hazzard”). Their jealousy leads to a surprising rejection of Judith, which only deepens after the sudden death of their father. As she strives to mend her family and heal her own mind, Judith leans on her faith to confront her challenges. Her struggles are compounded by PTSD from a harrowing experience as a prisoner of war, where she fought for her life and that of a fellow American soldier. When a hidden truth comes to light, her brothers are forced to swallow their pride and seek reconciliation.
