The audience is invited to explore the compact world of an individual caught in a captivatingly destructive egomania. Here, they observe behavior that was once considered merely eccentric but has now become strangely commonplace, possibly stemming from a contemporary culture of self-absorption. In this character, we see the collapse of self-worship, a frequent cause and sometimes a byproduct of pathological narcissism, leading to self-loathing. The tension between excessive self-love and the pursuit of perfection threatens to unravel the film’s unsettling dreamlike atmosphere. Yet, a fleeting moment of self-awareness only deepens the character’s narcissism. It’s an existential crisis partially realized, submerged in the shallow depths of Narcissus’ reflection.
