By June 1942, the Japanese Navy had advanced across the Pacific. To alter the war’s trajectory, a U.S. carrier group was stationed near Midway, aiming to ambush the enemy. In this crucial confrontation, a U.S. Navy dive bomber’s two-man crew had to abandon their aircraft at sea. Stranded, they relied on their fellow servicemen for salvation, particularly the eclectic crew of a PBY Catalina dispatched to locate survivors. As they drifted in the expansive Pacific, with days slipping by and rescue seeming increasingly unlikely, the men confronted their own mortality.
