City Baby
Chic and alluring, with intense romantic entanglements and intricate friendships, life takes a swift turn for Cloey when she’s unexpectedly thrust out of her comfort zone. Her dependency on others is challenged as her stable relationship with her boyfriend begins to crumble, her childhood best friend prepares to leave town, and her father’s (Daniel Baldwin) financial support is cut off. “City Baby” explores the relentless pursuit of bigger and better things—be it relationships, cities, or careers—while suggesting that sometimes what we have is already enough. The film features appearances by Portland musicians like Stephen Malkmus of Pavement, live performances by Glass Candy and Starfucker, and a carefully curated soundtrack of Portland-based artists, painting a picture of a semi-adult playground centered around the lives of the city’s trendsetters.
