Buffalo Soldiers
After traveling countless dusty miles and engaging in intense battles, these courageous African-American cavalrymen find themselves in a rugged frontier town where they are forced to walk instead of ride. Despite the town’s lack of respect, their Native-American adversaries hold them in high regard. The Apache leader, Victorio, along with other warriors, bestows upon them a name symbolizing honor and strength: “Buffalo Soldiers.” This thrilling narrative follows the soldiers’ bold pursuit of Victorio, serving as a powerful homage to the former slaves and other African-Americans who served in the 9th and 10th U.S. Cavalry Regiments. Featuring performances by Danny Glover, Mykelti Williamson, Glynn Turman, Carl Lumbly, and Michael Warren, the film sheds light on this largely untold story and the unique moral challenges these men encountered. Stand at attention! The “Buffalo Soldiers” are making their way through town.
