Beyond the North Winds: A Post Nuclear Reverie
Set on Scotland’s northern coast, Dounreay is a nuclear research facility established in the late 1950s, with its reactors now gradually decommissioned. This short documentary follows the trail of Walter Glass, a fictional scientist who vanished while investigating the site’s shutdown. It delves into the harsh landscape of the area, offering a contemplation on the connections between myth, technology, and the environment. The film highlights what has vanished—the missing researcher and a cottage that mysteriously burned down—to discuss what will endure, whether it’s the remnants of a Neolithic shelter, deserted nuclear structures, or the stories, myths, and legends passed down through generations.
