Robgen Industries has developed a cutting-edge security system called “The J Series Automatic,” featuring an android model specifically designed to safeguard humans from violent incidents. One evening, an android named J269 witnesses a Robgen executive attempting to assault a female employee, Nora Rochester. In his effort to prevent the crime, J269 accidentally kills the executive. Following the incident, J269 contacts his creator and Robgen chairman, Goddard Marx, to report what happened. Marx instructs the android to remain with Rochester until assistance arrives, but secretly plans to cover up the scandal by dispatching mercenaries to eliminate both J269 and Rochester. Consequently, the pair find themselves on the run from a paramilitary hit squad.
