A Prominent Patient
In 1939, the vibrant Czech diplomat Jan Masaryk finds himself in America, having fled from his troubled past. With Germany’s occupation of Czechoslovakia, Masaryk is left without a homeland. In the United States, he attempts to escape the memories of both personal and political betrayals that haunt him. Previously serving as the Czechoslovak ambassador in London, Masaryk was unable to secure British support, failing to prevent his country’s downfall. With the assistance of Dr. Stein, a German psychiatrist in exile, and the captivating writer Marcia Davenport, Masaryk endeavors to confront his inner turmoil and revisit the intense events that led to the onset of World War II.
