On January 6, 2021, the United States experienced an unparalleled assault on the Capitol. While armed militia members and QAnon supporters captured media attention, the crowd also included numerous Christian symbols such as crosses, flags bearing Christian imagery, rosaries, and signs proclaiming “Jesus Saves.” This raises the question: what drove so many Christians to engage in this act of violence?
