Volcano

María, a 17-year-old from the Kaqchikel Maya community, resides with her family on a coffee farm located at the base of a live volcano. She is arranged to wed the plantation’s overseer. However, María yearns to explore the world beyond the mountain, a realm beyond her imagination. In pursuit of this dream, she entices a coffee picker who dreams of fleeing to the United States. When he abandons her, María embarks on a journey of rediscovery of her own world and cultural heritage.
