Another Barrio
In a narrative that echoes current events of fires, evictions, and street protests, “Another Barrio” follows housing inspector Bob Morales as he delves into the dubious details surrounding a deadly blaze. While examining a residential hotel in San Francisco’s Latino Mission District, Morales encounters corruption within City Hall and crosses paths with Sofia Nido, an enigmatic figure from his past. As he probes deeper into the case, Morales must face his own inner struggles and becomes ensnared in a perilous web of lies, entangled in a world rife with bribery, corruption, and murder. This independent Neo-noir film, inspired by a story from San Francisco Poet Laureate Alejandro Murguia, immerses audiences in rarely depicted neighborhoods and communities, while exploring themes of gentrification and the displacement of low-income residents.
