Standby
In his twenties, Alan (Gleeson) is experiencing a rough patch. After being left at the altar and losing his job at a bank, he ends up working alongside his mother as a part-time tourist advisor at Dublin Airport. There, he unexpectedly reunites with his first love, Alice (Paré), who is waiting on standby for a flight back to New York. Their summer romance had ended eight years ago, with Alan vowing to visit the US someday—a promise he never fulfilled, leaving them out of touch since. Seeing an opportunity, Alan persuades a hesitant Alice to spend one more night in Dublin. During an unforgettable evening, they might discover that they are more suited for each other than ever before. However, this fleeting encounter is on borrowed time. When does an unforeseen second chance turn into the one you’ve been searching for all along?
