Dr. Jin
“Dr. Jin” is a 2012 South Korean historical TV drama featuring Song Seung-hun as the protagonist, Dr. Jin, a neurosurgeon from the 21st century who finds himself transported back to the Joseon Dynasty. The series also stars Park Min-young, Lee Beom-soo, Kim Jaejoong from JYJ, and Lee So-yeon. It was broadcast on MBC from May 26 to August 12, 2012, airing on Saturdays and Sundays at 21:50 for a total of 22 episodes.
Adapted from the Japanese manga “Jin” by Motoka Murakami, this series marks the third TV adaptation of the manga, following the Japanese drama “JIN” starring Takao Osawa, which aired on TBS in 2009 and its sequel in 2011. The Korean version, infused with local cultural elements, shifts the setting from Japan’s Edo period to Korea’s Joseon Dynasty during King Cheoljong’s reign. The character of Sakamoto Ryoma from the original manga is replaced by the Joseon political figure Lee Ha-eung.
The series was initially titled “Time Slip Dr. Jin.”
