Freddy’s Nightmares

Freddy’s Nightmares

“Freddy’s Nightmares” is an American horror anthology series that aired in syndication from October 1988 to March 1990. As a spin-off from the “Nightmare on Elm Street” franchise, each episode was introduced by the iconic Freddy Krueger. The show’s format is similar to that of “Alfred Hitchcock Presents,” “Tales from the Crypt,” and “The Twilight Zone.” The pilot episode, directed by Tobe Hooper, starts with Freddy Krueger being acquitted of child-murder charges due to a procedural error by the arresting officer. A group of enraged parents eventually traps Freddy in a power plant, where he is set on fire by the officer, leading to his death and the creation of his infamous appearance.

The series was produced by New Line Television, the same company behind the film series. Initially, it was distributed by Lorimar-Telepictures, but Warner Bros. Television took over syndication rights after acquiring Lorimar-Telepictures.
