About a Boy
Will Freeman leads an enviable life as the quintessential adult who refuses to grow up. Thanks to a successful song he penned, he enjoys a lifestyle filled with leisure, casual relationships, and financial security. He’s single, jobless, and thoroughly enjoying it. However, his idyllic existence is thrown into disarray when Fiona, a single mother in need, and her uniquely endearing 11-year-old son, Marcus, move in next door. Marcus starts showing up at Will’s place unexpectedly, and Will is initially reluctant to become the boy’s new buddy. That is, until he realizes that women are particularly attracted to single fathers. This revelation prompts a mutually beneficial arrangement: Marcus will pose as Will’s son, and in return, he gets to hang out at Will’s place. Gradually, Will begins to appreciate Marcus’s visits and even starts to care for him. This unexpected friendship might just teach Will some surprising lessons about himself and the importance of caring for others.
