The League of Gentlemen
“The League of Gentlemen” is a British comedy TV series that debuted on BBC Two in 1999. The narrative unfolds in Royston Vasey, an imaginary town in Northern England inspired by Bacup, Lancashire. The show delves into the eccentric lives of numerous townsfolk, with the majority of characters portrayed by three of the four writers—Mark Gatiss, Steve Pemberton, and Reece Shearsmith—who, along with Jeremy Dyson, established the League of Gentlemen comedy group in 1995. The series originally ran for three seasons from 1999 to 2002, followed by a feature film in 2005. To mark the troupe’s 20th anniversary, a three-episode revival mini-series was aired in December 2017.
