Charlie Fitzpatrick holds the title of the most accomplished high school basketball coach in Georgia’s history. While his players often see him as a father figure, his own relationship with his “bookworm” son, Evan, is tense. With support from his wife, Laura, and Evan’s wife, Heather, Charlie decides that the best way to connect with Evan and his grandson, Markie—who has recently decided to leave college to tour with his folk band—is to take them on a weekend getaway to a rustic mountain cabin. This cabin is the same location where Charlie used to challenge his successful teams with a demanding military-style obstacle course, one that Evan never had the opportunity to finish as a student. For Charlie, this retreat is a fun bonding experience; for Evan, it’s a nightmare; and for Markie, who is young and idealistic, it’s just another adventure to embrace.
