Ian Bonar portrays Stevie, an aspiring musician with a style reminiscent of Jarvis Cocker and early Elvis Costello. He and his drummer friend Neil, played by Matthew Baynton, are employed at a call center but aspire to make a name for themselves in the indie music world. To achieve this, they need more band members. Enter Billy, a determined guitarist with a penchant for drinking, played by Kieran Bew, and Emily, a somewhat eccentric bassist portrayed by Lyndsey Marshal, who also creates sculptures out of hair.
